Rust in the Enterprise:

Take control with a modern,  sustainable approach

Discover why Rust is big tech's go-to choice and how enterprises can benefit from its safety, cost and performance advantages
Rust

Rust has long been the developers choice. Now the race for enterprise adoption is on. The advantages it can bring in performance, safety, costs, sustainability, and testability can no longer be ignored.

   20th July 2023 18:00 to 20:30+
After work @ Red Badger
  Old Street | London

This open-to-all session is a follow up to the extraordinary Saturday meet-up we hosted following the Rust Nation conference in February.

Every month we see wider adoption of Rust as it moves up the application stack and into the enterprise. We will explore why and how in this two-sided event.

In the first half hear from our Chief Scientist and Technical Director as they discuss Rust adoption for enterprise applications. This is for Engineering Managers, Technical Architects and all those interested in why Rust in the Enterprise and how to drive adoption.

We will follow this in the second half with an engineering deep dive and hands on code exploration for engineers to experiment with Rust. We'll unpack our Crux framework for headless cross-platform app dev

Modern software engineering is gaining traction as a sustainable approach to regain control over development bloat and the costs of utility compute. New approaches including edge compute, WebAssembly (Wasm) outside of the browser, and scale-to-zero platforms such as Cosmonic and Fermyon Spin offer orders of magnitude advantages.

These next-generation patterns and tools are available today at enterprise scale. We'll explore these and themes around why Rust, why now, and how to help it be adopted successfully by your large organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to spend some time with the engineers and leaders championing next generation approaches.

All enterprises are grappling with cost and complexity, while demand continues to climb. Join us to explore the flexible, low impact future available today.

Join first session to explore:

Enterprise context and constraints and how modern patterns and tools, including Rust, can radically impact them

How a new approach for complex cross-platform app dev dramatically improves speed, safety, performance and costs

The maturing of Rust and its ecosystem as part of a wider modernisation of enterprise app dev, and how to adopt it

Timing: c. 18:15 to 19:15

Join second session to explore:

  Rust principles and codebase

Hands on coding, with example of financial services payments application

Collaboration with experienced enterprise digital product and platform engineers

Timing c. 19:30 to 20:30

Don't miss this opportunity to meet the team who developed Crux and find out about the low impact codebase revolution. Complimentary pizza and drinks served throughout in our offices on Silicon Roundabout, London.

Stuart Harris

Chief Scientist, Red Badger

Stu Harris co-founded Red Badger in 2010 with a firm belief in better ways of doing things. A software engineer in his heart, head, and hands (he still codes), Stu sees how large enterprises and professional services consulting apply technology at scale. Over the last 3 decades, he has been at the centre of the agile and digital revolutions inside enterprises, championing better technologies, patterns, and ways of working. He believes we’re now entering a revolutionary phase change in enterprise technologies based on Rust (among other languages), Wasm (in and outside the browser), and scale-to-zero platforms such as Cosmonic and Fermyon Spin.
