INNOVATION AT SCALE
Failure is not OK (anymore)
From fail fast to assured success: de-risk innovation and continuously release value as you scale.
Wednesday 29th April
18:30 to 20:30 - followed by networking cocktails until late
Location - One Club Row, Shoreditch
'Fail fast' had its moment. Today, it’s a liability.
The leap in capability AI brings leaves no excuses for validating your strategy. Experimentation and continuous discovery has become trivial and uncertainty is driven down by robust evidence. Test and learn is 100x easier with proven methods for continuous value release at scale.
Lean startup is 15 years old, yet most organisations haven’t caught up. Few companies run robust hypothesis validation continuously through their product development. Teams talk about ‘failing fast’ as a virtue or bravery. But real courage isn’t speed, it’s discipline. It’s the willingness to do the hard, continuous work: structured experimentation, sustained rigour, and uncomfortable honesty at every level about what is, and isn’t working.
Breakthrough business building is still brutally hard. Getting a board to green-light a new proposition is only the beginning. Turning that approval into a scalable, enduring business remains the real challenge.
The results speak for themselves:
- Only ~10% of corporate innovation initiatives deliver sustained returns
- Innovation decisions miss expectations ~50% of the time
- Failure rates in innovation are significantly higher than in core business decisions
£Billions are spent with very little sticking. The outcome is predictable: innovation theatre, fragile bets, and value that never compounds.
A different approach: assured success and continuous bravery
This invite-only session distils the approach used by successful teams. Those who have built breakthrough businesses inside complex enterprises and for large Private Equity, at scale. And done it multiple times.
Not theory. Not inspiration. But a practical framework built over years of real-world success, designed to de-risk innovation by proving success first.
Mark Bjornsgaard has spent his career conceiving, designing, and launching breakthrough businesses inside complex environments. His work spans early-stage conception through to global scale, repeatedly turning high-uncertainty ideas into enduring ventures.
His last business is unlocking $12bn funding. His current ones will be even bigger.
Over summer, Mark will launch the book that sets out his end-to-end business building process: a disciplined, repeatable approach for turning ambition into assured results. This session is your opportunity to hear that framework first - directly from the person who built it.
Claire Murray has spent her career scaling innovation into production for some of the biggest brands in the world across retail, media, and services. Winning hearts and minds through the toughest challenge: making value creation business as usual for any product in every market.
No fluff. No made-up war stories. No sell-the-dream. Just the method.
If you’re responsible for building what’s next, and accountable for outcomes, this is for you.
