The Challenge

London Business School has been shaping global business leaders for over 60 years. With more than 58,000 alumni spread across 160 countries, the School's network is one of its most valuable assets, but it wasn't acting like one.

Alumni were repeatedly telling the School the same thing: they wanted better tools to find and connect with each other. The reality they faced was a patchwork of disconnected platforms, none of which offered the right functionality to make meaningful professional connections at scale. For an institution that prides itself on excellence, it was a gap that needed closing, and fast.

The question wasn't just what to build, but how to build it without getting bogged down in the layers of process that often slow large organisations down.

Our approach

The engagement began with a six-week Service Vision Sprint. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with the LBS team, we undertook multiple stakeholder interviews and ran rapid ideation sessions designed to understand the problem from every angle: what alumni actually needed day-to-day, what the School needed to deliver operationally, and what an ideal end-to-end experience could look like if nothing was off the table.

From the outset, both teams committed to a single unified approach: one team, one goal.

With an ambitious deadline on the horizon, the joint team had under three months to move from vision to a working product in the hands of real users. MyLBS, the new unified alumni platform, launched to its first cohort of users right on schedule.

The platform gave LBS alumni something they'd been asking for: a single, easy to access, mobile-first, modern destination where they could keep connected with the school and graduates from across 160 countries, with the right tools to make those connections actually useful.

The results

The rollout has since expanded to over 30,000 alumni, with early feedback described as "incredibly positive", a strong signal that the service design work done in those early sprint weeks translated directly into an experience people genuinely wanted to use.
